When the users of your incredible location-based strategy game reach the thousands, you’re bound to want to organize an event so they can meet one another. Or, if you want a more down-to-earth example, you may just want to promote some local event or place when using location-based targeting (but why would you want to spoil this for me?).

The way to do this is by harnessing the ability of modern platforms to invoke Google Maps. Android can even load the native Google Maps when loading a Google Maps URL. All you have to do is follow some simple steps.

The first thing to do, is to find the location. This is easy to do: just search for it, or navigate to any place on the map. Then, you right-click on it.

Select “What’s here?” and you’ll see, among other things, the coordinates of the place.

You want to create a Google Maps URL like the following, which contains the coordinates you’ll copy, and the description you want to attach to that impromptu placemark, between (urlencoded) parentheses (the %22 and %29 – please take care to urlencode any spaces as well!).

You’re good to go! Just create a Click2Web campaign with that URL, and invite your users to your first User Conference!
